For the BBC Merlin Title Sequence, I aimed to create a cohesively designed and illustrated title sequence which focuses on the motifs found in the show rather than actual scenes. The entire motion piece is done through frame by frame cel animation in Procreate and refined in Adobe After effects.

For the BBC Merlin Title Sequence, I aimed to create a cohesively designed and illustrated title sequence - I wanted to the style to feel like a frame by frame piece - where each frame is its own canvas, where each frame reveals a little more detail then the prior frame.
CIRCLE MOTIF USED AS A TRANSITION
THE CIRCLE
Within BBC Merlin there is a running motif of circles. examples of this include significant objects such as the round table, gold coins and royal shields. Within this mythology, circles represent Wholeness, Unity and Eternity - themes which are prevent in BBC Merlin.
Apart from the hidden meaning - Visually, I used circle imagery to better connect each scene of the sequence together.
