FOLKSI HOMEMADE WOOL SOCKS
Folksi began from a chance meeting at Edinburgh’s international wool festival, where Icelandic sheep farmer Anna Björnsdottir and Irish wool shepherd Avery Kelly bonded over their shared love for wool. Blending the rugged warmth Iceland volcanic fleece with the wild charm of irelands aran artistry - they crafted socks that blend weave together their heritages.
Folksi grew into a celebration of two cultures, honoring the land, the sheep and the traditions that inspire every stitch.

PRIMARY IDENTITY MARKS
THE MARKS
WORD MARK
The FOLKSI word mark is born from the anatomy of the main logo. The lockup of each character in this logo is inspired by the closeness of the lines within the main logo mark. The base of the word mark is built on the existing typeface Lapture Bold.
LOGO MARK
The FOLKSI logo mark is born from the anatomy of interlocking o’s which create a woven symbol inspired by traditional Celtic knots. The negative space created where the threads/lines of the mark “interlock” relate to the style of the K character found in the main FOLKSI wordmark. These threads also allude to the weaving technique used in traditional wool sock creation.
SECONDARY IDENTITY MARKS
" THE NISSE "
In Icelandic folklore, Nisse are mischievous house spirits that are believed to protect the home and its inhabitants. One playful trait of Nisse is their tendency to steal socks, a fun behavior tied to their love of mischief.
IDEATION PROCESS
Through my research into wool and wool textile creations I discovered Irish wool is the softest wool in the world while Icelandic wool is the warmest in the world - I was inspired to ideate logo ideas based off motifs from both Irish and Icelandic culture and folklore.
